Where can I get that special art clay?
I remember back in elementary school in art class we’d get to make stuff out of this special clay. It was the color gray and our teacher used to say it was ‘real clay’ and not the ‘fake stuff’.
I was wondering if anyone could tell me where I could get some of this clay?
If it was real clay, it means it was a water based clay which does require temperatures of at least 1200F to fire. So unless you have a kiln or access to a kiln, I would not recommend to use it. If you don’t fire it, it will disolve in water and otherwise be very fragile. If you want it, some art supply stores have it and ceramics stores have it (yellow pages). You can also check if there is a local supplier of Laguna clay if you live in the northeast.
If you want to use something you can harden at home you have to use polymer or airdry clays which you can get in most art/craft stores.
