The easiest and fastest way is to buy iron-on appliques at a sewing or craft store. You can also buy it online, but you don’t always get EXACTLY what you want.

If you don’t find any good ready-made iron-on appliques, you can get a picture of butterflies you like, and if you have access to an inkjet printer, you could print the designs on either a iron-on transfer or iron-on fabric sheet (like ColorFast). I highly recommend the fabric sheet because it does last longer than just simple transfers which sometimes tend to flake off over time.

Another option, if you don’t have inkjet access, is to use butterfly fabric and either a fusible bonding web like stitch witchery, heat ‘n bond, or even Wonder Under (this one is preferred by quilters). You cut out the shape that you want from the fabric and the fusible webbing, then iron it on to your top.

*add-on note: There is a laserjet printer transfer option, but printing on laserjet tends to get a bit dodgy… especially since the color doesn’t always come out right and you may have to do extra steps.
